Andy Yap Appointed CEO of Climate Smart Ventures as Lawrence Ang Transitions to Chairman, Marking a New Chapter of Growth
15 April 2026, Singapore – Climate Smart Ventures (CSV) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Yap as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 March 2026. This marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for CSV, building on the strong foundation established over the past five years since its founding.
Lawrence Ang, CSV’s co-founder and founding CEO, will be stepping into the role of Chairman and will be taking on the role of Co-Head at Reviva Transition Partners, a joint venture of CSV. Reviva is a first-of-its-kind private equity investment strategy to accelerate managed coal phase-out and phase-down across Asia and other emerging markets. By leveraging active equity ownership, the strategy aims to unlock value creation and scale the energy transition. In February 2026, Eastspring Investments, the USD286 billion asset management business of Prudential plc, and Reviva signed a collaboration agreement to further develop the strategy.
Under Mr. Ang’s leadership, CSV has grown into a leading advisory firm driving the energy transition in Asia, with expertise spanning coal to clean utility-level energy transition, industrial decarbonization, grid modernization, mobilization of transition finance, and government-level policy support. The team has expanded to over 30 professionals from 2021. The firm is headquartered in Singapore with extensive operations in the Philippines, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
“Leading CSV over the past five years has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career,” said Mr. Ang. “With Andy at the helm, I am confident CSV will scale new heights in delivering commercially viable climate solutions in Asia and beyond. I look forward to maximizing synergies between Reviva and CSV to drive the global energy transition. This represents an important expansion of CSV’s role as a market participant, with Reviva positioned to be an active owner with a mandate to transform infrastructure from coal to clean.”
Mr. Yap’s exceptional qualifications and experience, most recently as Partner, Finance Sector at a leading sustainability advisory firm, combined with nearly two decades in the banking sector, position him to lead CSV into its next phase of growth. In his previous role, he advised listed and private companies on ESG strategies, supported sponsors and lenders with project finance due diligence, and guided buyers and sellers on risk mitigation in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). He has worked closely with banks across Southeast Asia to develop sustainable investment and finance frameworks, led major green, social, and sustainability-linked second-party opinion projects, delivered senior-level executive training, and headed the firm’s Carbon Markets practice in the region.
"While we have been at the forefront of the energy transition, the urgency is growing, and momentum can easily stall amidst shifting geopolitics," stated Mr. Yap. "I view our advisory arm and our capital deployment—through platforms like Reviva—as deeply symbiotic. By translating our knowledge into practice, we validate our strategies in the real world. This, in turn, allows us to guide our clients' sustainability journeys with sharper insights and the right risk guardrails. We are actively seeking like-minded partners and platforms to bring the best people together to collectively combat climate change."
Mr. Yap’s earlier career includes roles at Bank of America (BofA), BofA Merrill Lynch, and Deutsche Bank. He holds a Master’s in Sustainable Development and an MBA (Data Analytics) with Distinction.
“We are very fortunate to have a strong leadership that enables us to transition to a leader of Mr. Yap’s expertise and experience. His deep background in ESG and carbon markets, innovation, and banking and finance position us for continued success as the region and the world transition from crisis to recovery,” said Matthew Carpio, CSV’s CFO.
